Farewell to Gun and Chris

On Wenesday 20th March 27 club members and guests gathered at Mi Amore on Huntly Street to say farewell to Gun and Chris Remahl. Gun and Chris are returning to Sweden, having curled with the club since 1992. In proposing the toast Club President Dillan Perras thanked Chris for helping Dillan with his own career in the oil industry, and reminded Chris of an awkward moment in 1996 when Texaco’s Captain platform accidentally hit the Erskine Bridge. Dillan highlighted Gun’s contribution to ladies’ curling in particular, having represented Aberdeen at the Henderson Bishop finals no less than 6 times.

Gun and Chris have been great supporters of the club and will be sadly missed.

Bill springs in front

Bill Morrison won the 2019 spring league, finishing narrowly ahead of Dillan Perras. Bill and Dillan both won 6 lost 2 and the result was decided by ends. Bill’s team comprised Roy Haites, Nicki Orr, Karen Shaw, and Andy Walker. Well done all.

More Club Bonspiel Success

A Petroleum team won the third Curl Aberdeen Club Bonspiel which was held at the rink on Saturday 2nd March. The team was skipped by Rod Mackenzie, and included Iseabal Emsile, Claire Perras, and Philip Scott.

Rod won all 3 of his games, and finished narrowly ahead of the CA Juniors club (which included Dillan Perras and birthday boy Luke Perras) who had the same number of wins, the same number of ends, and only 1 less shot !

This means that Petroleum have now won all 3 of the bonspiels, and will receive the overall award at the Curl Aberdeen prizegiving. Well done all.
