Rink success for Ian

The local final of the Rink Championship took place in Aberdeen on Wednesday 12th December.  Petroleum’s team was led by Ian Grigor and included Rhiann Macleod, Chris Inglis, and Craig McNaughton.  They were up against a strong Meldrum and Daviot team skipped by Scott Macleod.  After a tight start the game could have gone either way, but Ian took control from the 4th end and eventually won 8-3.  The team will now travel to the national finals in Forfar in March.   Well done all, and special thanks to Craig who travelled up from Edinburgh to take part.

Christmas Bonspiel

The club held their Christmas bonspiel at Curl Aberdeen on Sunday 9th December.  Santa was joined by at least three elves, and an assortment of Christmas jumpers and headgear brightened the occasion.  A strong turnout of eight teams played two four end games on unusually quick and straight ice.  The winning team was skipped by Rod MacKenzie, with Karen Shaw and David Addison.  Second was Craig McNaughton, playing with Nicki Orr, Erica Mitchell, and Alison Hunter. And third was Dillan Perras leading a family team of Claire and Luke, with Ronnie Whyte.  Well done all.  The curling was followed by an excellent turkey dinner and a good time was had by all.

Enjoy your Christmas break when it comes, and information about the Spring league will be available shortly.

Success in second club bonspiel

Curl Aberdeen held their second club bonsiel of the 18-19 season on Saturday 1st December.  Teams from twelve clubs each played three six-end games over the day, with welcome breaks for nourishment in between.  Petroleum’s team was skipped by Ian Grigor and included Ronnie Whyte, Sarah Glidden, Rod MacKenzie, and Malcolm Watson. Ian led his team to victory in all three games, and won the event because they finished with more ends than the one other team who achieved 3 wins.  Well done to Ian and the team.
