Singles Winners

On 30th March 2016 a Petroleum team won the Province Singles Competition.  Rhiann Macleod, Ian Grigor, Ronnie Whyte, and Rod MacKenzie beat AWW2 29-9 in the final (15-5 on ends).  This was a great achievement, and rewards the team for 4 years of effort in this competition – they previously lost 2 semi finals and were runners up to AWW2 in last year’s final !  Thanks also to Lewis Stephen and Chris Inglis who subbed in earlier rounds of the competition.

Well done all !

Petroleum are Rink Champions

Dave Edwards and his team of Rhiann Macleod, Ian Grigor, and Craig Mcnaughton entered the finals for the Rink Championship competition at Forfar on 4th-6th March, having earlier won the Aberdeen local event.  There were 4 pools of 6 teams, each representing the best club curlers from rinks across the country.  After 5 pool games, a quarter final, a semi final, and a final Dave’s team emerged as the winners, beating Kinross 8-5 in the final.   This is a great achievement for the team and reflects well on the quality of curling in our club.

Petroleum win at Kinross

Two teams from Petroleum attended a social bonspeil at the Green Hotel, Kinross on the weekend of 5th/6th March.  Banchory and Bearsden were in attendance, together with a large turnout from East Kilbride.  After the 3 pool games the APCC teams found themselves facing each other in the final – which was won by Ronnie Whyte (for the second year running) supported by Gun and Chris Remahl and Richard Jachniq.  Well done to all, and thank you to Maureen Melvin for organising.

APCC Ladies Represent Aberdeen

Two Petroleum members recently represented Aberdeen in national ladies’ competitions.  Irene Duncan played in the Henderson Bishop at Lockerbie, where the competition was won by a team from Ayr.  Gun Remahl played in the Morton competition at Kirkcaldy, where 3 teams from each of Aberdeen, Ayr, Kinross, and Lanarkshire took part with the first place once again going to Ayr.  Well done ladies !
